About

I have more than 15 years’ experience as a qualified lawyer.

After graduating from Lancaster University with a First Class degree in Law, I kickstarted my career with Addleshaw Goddard LLP where I qualified as a Corporate Finance Associate. Since then, I have held senior positions at companies such as Renold PLC – a main market listed PLC in the engineering sector – and Arrow Global Group PLC – a leading European asset management services provider.

With my vast experience, I have led teams of up to 25 lawyers and advised on complex and high value transactions, such as Arrow Global’s IPO and multiple M&A and financing processes.

In May 2020, I decided to set up my own business as a Consultant Lawyer (as an unregulated legal services provider), giving me the freedom to work with companies of all sizes who may not have in house counsel to advise them.

Using a holistic approach, I get to know the businesses I work with in depth so I can deliver advice that is individually tailored to my clients. I particularly enjoy working with clients that are less experienced in legal matters and helping them find solutions to complicated issues – translating legal speak into a language that makes sense to them.

The ethos of Asteya Consulting

I am a qualified yoga teacher and through my interest in yogic philosophy and applying this to my daily home and work life, I decided upon the name Asteya Consulting. Asteya is one of the five ethical rules of the Yoga Sutras – a collection of observances and practices to guide those following of the theory and practice of yoga.

Asteya is Sanskrit for ‘non-stealing’ – however, this is not limited to physically taking something from someone else, it is about living with integrity. I use this as a framework for providing a valued and quality service to my clients in the following ways:

  • ensuring I’m fully present during discussions with my clients, asking questions and being eager to learn more about their business – fostering a relationship of reciprocity;
  • being authentic in my interactions with my clients – always being honest and genuine, whether that relates to timings or fees; and
  • delivering advice in an efficient, practical and client-friendly manner – not ‘stealing’ my client’s time unnecessarily where their attention could be better focused on other business matters and ensuring that my clients know that I can always be relied upon.
“I’m very focused on client service and exceeding expectations, ensuring my clients are always happy with my work, not only from a technical point of view, but also the way in which it’s delivered. I’m guided by asking myself at the end of each day: “Am I happy with the job I’ve done today and what could I have done differently?”
